As someone else said, an infection. It could be several infections coming on over and over, or it could be one infection that's not completely going away. The most common cause for this is strep throat, staph, or one of the other bacterial infections common to people. If you're the one with the recurring fever, go talk to your doctor. He or she will prescribe some broad-spectrum antibodies to help, and might do a culture of your throat to check for something like staph or strep.

You may have an infection that you don't even realize you have. It could be something like a trivial little cut, or even something oral.
