Ken Burns quoted a letter from a Civil War soldier, Sullivan Ballou, in his Civil War series. It was the most romantic letter I had ever read or heard. It was beautiful.
He sent it to his wife prior to his going off to battle. He died during that battle, so the letter is all the more significant.

The whole book (also called Canticles) is romantic and sweet. A lot of people believe it to be racy, but it describes a pure, innocent mutual love between a maiden and a shepherd. They refer to each other as 'my companion' and it reminds me of the importance of being friends first.

If you are looking for a good quote to say to someone DON"T! That is a bad idea, trust me, I've seen it go down, if you qoute someone and the person you say it to knows where you got it from, you had better start looking back on all the good things that happened in your life because you're going to die!
