I am debating whether to get a red heeler, or an australion shepherd. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with the two dogs that you mentioned. However, I researched dogs myself when I was looking and ended up choosing a Golden Retriever because most Retriever's have easy going personality's and are good dogs for family's with children. Our dog is very lovable and also extremely bright. Most Golden's make good pets, according to the research that I did two years ago.

I suggest a Austalian Sheperd. They are soo cute! They're lovely and are good company. You also can go see for a boxer too. Boxers are exeptional. Extremely, but really cute, good obeying when you teach.
If you just want one of the two dogs you told, choose a Australian Sheperd.
Hope I helped you! Good luck!

They both have similar temperaments, so in my opinion the main difference is the look of the dog. I would choose the Aussie Shepherd, but that is just my opinion.

You need to consider how much time you have for them, and how much exercise they will be getting. Both breeds are herding dogs and require a LOT of exercise. The best thing to do is to research both breeds to see if either one is compatible with you and your lifestyle. This is a good link to start with, it will tell you about both breeds as well as any others you may be interested in. http://www.akc.org/breeds/index.cfm

Though I suppose this isn't really an answer, I would suggest seeing both of the dogs you are considering in person. I was interested in buying a black lab until I met the puppy....

Hope this helps. :-)

Go to puppyfind.com. They have a good information on different breeds. You can look up their activity level, energy level, exercise requirements, and some other stuff to help you decide which is best.
