It sounds like your trying to convince yourself that he likes you. I mean, if your best friends, why wouldn't he want to give you a nice gift? It's not neccessarily a sign of his feelings or means anything. It may not mean anything. It shouldn't be made out into a big deal, unless you want your friend to think that he can't be generous without making a big deal out of it. And theyre's no need to tell your boyfriend, unless you want to give him a reason to be jealous. Who cares? It's New Years. Don't forget to thank him for the gift!

Happy New Year!!

Or maybe your guy friend is just a really good friend, and wanted to show you how much he apperciates you. Earrings aren't really that romantic (compared to a diamond ring, which I would tell my boyfriend about!), a really nice (and pretty!) thought. It is kinda odd though-- a New Years Eve gift? I say, casually mention it to the boyfriend, but try to figure out more if this guy friend actually likes you before hand.

NO.. under no circumstances should you tell your boyfriend about it. UNLESS you want your boyfriend and your best-friend to fight about it. This is strictly between you and your best friend and you should resolve this matter between yourselves. If your boyfriend is the jealous type, you will risk a fight between your boyfriend and your best friend.

Solution: If you think the gift is inappropriate, give it back to your best friend and tell him that your boyfriend would probably get jealous. And to prevent a bad situation from happening, you don't want to accept the gift. "Thanks, they are beautiful, but I don't want to get into trouble." should be your answer. Your best friend may be giving you hints, but it's not appropriate and it may create problems. So, give it back. He should understand it, and if he's really your best friend, he should respect your relationship with your boyfriend and not cause trobule.

But if you like the gift, and want to keep it, don't tell your boyfriend. By the way, you're not married yet, so it's not really a big issue.

Sounds like you *want* your friend to like you. If he's your best friend, why wouldn't he want to give you nice gifts like that, just because you're friends? Is there anything else that's making you think he likes you as more than a friend? I don't think you should make such a big deal about it. If your boyfriend asks where you got the earrings, tell him. Otherwise, who cares? They were a gift from a friend.

You should respect what your male friend said, that "its just a gift for new years eve", (although I doubt that), its okay to tell the bf, and if the friend comes back in state, see what happens from there.

I agree with the answer above, if you don't tell him and he finds out later it will look a lot worse than it is. And it does show that you feel like you have something to hide from him.

Just wait till you wear them. Or even better-wear them tonight, cause it's your new year's present. If he ever asks about them, be honest and don't try to hide the fact that they are from another man. Just tell him where you got them, but if he doesn't notice or just doesn't ask who gave them to you, don't bother bringing it up.
