HELLO, let's get the terms right.

A browser is the software on your computer that surfs the internet. Internet Explorer came with your computer. FireFox is free from http://www.mozilla.com There are others, but let's not go there right now.

I use FireFox for most of my general surfing, but use Internet Explorer version 6 for known safe websites. This technique avoids SpyWare and other threats.

But a seach engine is a website. Google is number one for surfing and their NEWS section is quite good. Yahoo is pretty good. There are many others. Visit http://www.google.com

Good luck and Happy Computing!

your default browser will start when you boot the computer and there is a 'search' field in the browser, enter a search in it and hit enter and see what comes up. If you're using an unaltered Windows machine your browser should be 'Internet Explorer' and your search will more than likely be 'MSN'. There are many of both browsers and search engines. The most popular now that are not Microsoft owned are for a browser 'Firefox' and search engine is 'Google'. But as I said before there are many just search in what ever search engine you use and you'll see so many it'll get confusing. Talk to your friends and relatives find out why the use what they use.

Well for all Windows, Internet Explorer. There are many browsers out there. Just yahoo search for it, "internet browser"

I would suggest Firefox! Its by Mozilla and I had it for about 2 weeks now even though its been out months, but its great! Especially if you design sites or do coding.

default browser ( i use ie 7.0) tools, internet options, then on general tab 3rd catagory down under search click settings and it shows what you have ( i use mywebsearch.com cause it has tabbed results for google, yahoo, looksmart, and ask.com) from there you can see what you have and even change the default.
