Hi, I am a type 2 diabetic and suffer the same thing . I am not a doctor or in the medical field but according to my diabetes books it is a common symptom of diabetes. The itchy hands could be caused by poor circulation blood pressure , or dry skin or side affects from the medications. It also can be a sign of thickening of the skin, or alergy or medication side effects . In any case we both should go to see a doctor just for a diabetes check up. In the meatime use avena oatmeal lotions, or medicated lotions. Benedryl helps if it is allergy but again, I am not a doctor. This is stuff that I use. You can get a better ideas by going to WEB MD website and try there sympton checker. It works great.

A rich hand cream with Shea or Cocoa Butter in it. Palmer's makes a good hand cream in either Shea or Cocoa Butter. Be sure to get the cream and not the lotion. The cream is thicker and is better for chapped skin.

About a year ago I had the same problem, I asked my docter and she told me to use hydrocortizone cream on them twice a day...it worked really well. It took a few days before I noticed anything but then they started to go back to normal.

My fingers get like that sometimes too. I would wash them and scrub them with warm, soapy water and then put some lotion on them.

sounds like you may have eczema. Or you could be allergic to something. You should go to a doctor to get it tested.
