Being predestined to Hell would be hyper-Calvinism, which was not taught by Calvin nor is it scriptural. Rather Adam brought sin into the world which tainted all of humanity to the point where we do not have the ability to chose Him. Therefore since we cannot "choose ourselves" into Heaven, God must do this for us. And this way it makes sense that God CAN have the ability to choose His own when He wants, and the Bible tells us that He has done this before the foundations of the world were laid. I'm sorry I don't have access to a Bible as I type this, but if you read the predestination verses in this manner, Calvinism does make sense. It gives ALL the glory to God in our salvation, it doesn't divide it between God and man. Very scriptural in my opinion.

No. "Predestined" only shows up twice in the NIV. Rom 8:29-30 and Eph 1:5,11
Read them closely, and you will see that it is BELIEVERS who are predestined. Predestined to what? Roms 8 says Christians are "predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his son". In other words, we will be made like Him! This is consistent with many other passages that say we will receive glorified bodies just like Christ.
Eph 1 says we were "predestined according to his plan"..."for the praise of His glory" How do we participate in this plan? Eph 1:13 tells us:
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. HAVING BELIEVED, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit
No where, no where anywhere, does the Bible say that some are predestined to heaven and others are predestined to hell by the will of God. On the contrary, God wishes NONE to perish and is command all men everywhere to repent, turn to Him and believe!
The Calvanistic view of salvation is simply NOT Biblical. Salvation is through faith in Christ. Not by God zapping some and not zapping others.

No, this is incorrect. The predestination part in this verse means that we are predestined with a plan for our lives from God. I am referring to Romans 8:28-30. I believe these are the verses you are asking about.
I listen to Christian radio quite a bit and was in Seminary for two years, and predestination was explained by this meaning. Dr. Charles Stanley of In Touch Ministries, also explains predestination the same way.
It is sometimes used to express justification and glorification.

Predestined to be changed from sinners (death) to forgiven (life).
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

It is a long discussion, but God knows the beginning and the end just like it is today. There is not past or future for God he sees everything as present. It is just that he has a very broad point of view that we don't have.. Sorry I don't have time to get scriptures for you..

God foreknew who would come to Him, but we all have the chance to choose.
