So, next door there is a big dog that is outside a lot. I have a little dog and she loves to go outside. Now, she can't because of the big dog. There is a hole forming on the fence and my dog can fit through it. The dog next door would tear her apart if she got through. What do I do? My dog loves to go out back but can't anymore. Please Help!

If the fence is on the property line between that properties and your neighbors large dog caused the whole in the fence then it is both your and their responsiblities to fix the fence unless that damage is clearly on THEIR side of the fence, but if the fence is in bad shape because of it being old (10+ yrs) then you and your neighbor should split the cost of putting up a new fence. I would suggest a metal fence such as a chain link fence and put up some chicken wire an temporary posts to keep about ten feet or so INSIDE of your yard to keep your dog in the yard and away from the other dog especially until and during the building of the new fence and if your neighbor does not contribute to the fence ($) sue. Just make sure that you get a survey or go to the property tax office and make sure that the fence is on the property line. This will help if you do have to go to court.

Unless that big dog is agressive towards little dog and or very ruff play then it would not do harm to you little yorkie. Patch the fence up as soon as you can. Until then, you can talk to you neighbour and try to come to an idea. What you can do is buy a very long, extensive leash you can buy at any pet store. Untill the whole is patch up, you can buy on leach for each dog. This way, they have lots of room to play and they will stay in there own backyards, Be shure to montore a little dog, thoe it could tangle itself!

Fix the fence. Meantime, put your little dog on a leash and take him outside or to the park or down the street for a walk. I'm sure he won't mind where he gets the exercise as long as he's getting outside and getting some exercise.

Block the hole, find out who owns the fence if it is you then, your responsible to fix it, if the wear and tear was done by the bigger dog then offer to split the cost of repairing the fence with your neighbor.

Seperate a section of the backyard that isn't attached to the fence and gate it off that way if the big dog gets into your yard your dog will be protected and it can still be outside.

I would recommend fixing your fence if you can. If not then try taking your dog to the park or to a neighbors house so she'll still be able to have fun outside...

First, whose fence is it: yours or the neighbors? If it is yours, patch the hole. If it is your neighbors, then you will have to ask them to fix the hole or at least permission for you to fix it on your side.
