here is your answer: throw away the cheapo shampoo. buy professional quality products. you also need a clarifying shampoo to eliminate build up. follow it with a good conditioner. just in case you don't know, ALWAYS follow shampoo with conditioner. get a trim.. the thinning may be stress, your imagination or use of the flat iron. not to be arrogant or conceited, but if you could only see MY hair, you'd follow my advice the way all my clients do. happy new year, sweetie.

As far as the split ends, only regular trims will get rid of these. Shampoos and styling products will temporarily mask the problem, but won't make them go away. The thinning hair could be due to many things: age, heredity, stress, thyroid problems, etc. Changing shampoo will not cause your hair to thin out. Nioxin is professional product line for fine and thinning hair. You can only get it at a salon. I've had many clients use this with good results. Figure out if your flakes are due to your scalp being oily or dry. If you have dry scalp and hair, the flakes are just dry skin, and you could benefit from a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. If your scalp and hair are oily, your flakes are probably due to dandruff. In this case a dandruff shampoo should help.

Stop using both, give yourself a good washing of the hair, use gel and lots of hair lotion. But your split ends ( snip, snip), Then, next time you want to wash your hair just use some regular shampoo and wait awhile before you start using Herbal Essences or Pantene.
Tip: Try not to switch your hair products, or it could be alot worse.
You could take the easy way out and go to your local hair dresser to have it done for you.

stop using store brands. Pantene and several other brands actually coat individual hairs with wax. I used to have this problem and I talked to my stylist about it. She took the straight edge of her scissors and went against a hair and showed me all the film that was coating just that strand. If you switch to something like a biolage moisturizing with conditioner that should help. You also have to look at your eating habits and general health. If you've changed medications, they can coat your hair, too.

Try Head and Shoulders shampoo. It will definitely help with the flakes and it is suppose to be the most moisturizing shampoo out there. Also you may need to have your ends trimmed to remove most of the damaged ends.

I would switch back to Pantene. If your hair continues to break off you could either go to a hair stylist and they can tell what your hair needs. Worst case senario is to go to your doctor- they can refer you to a dermatologist. Good luck!

It might just be your shedding time. If you havent had a trim in 2 months do that , get yourself a deepconditioning treatment kit at your local sallys store. You should be good as new.
