expensive kids clothes is stupid and waste of money, yet when I go shopping at WEM, (worlds largest mall) Ill see toddlers and young kids wearing tommy, jordans, etnies, polo you name it.
So what gives? I have seen more little kids dressed well than not. I dont get it.

Weird...i have spent 50 dollars on size 2t jeans for my son, and he has worn them way more than 2 times, more like 30 so far and they still look brand new. But I also shop at walmart for play clothes.

While most mothers I know do not buy designer clothes for their kids, I think they have other people in their lives who do buy a designer outfit or garment for their kid. I also know that in my town we have a great consignment shop where you can get designer children's clothes for a LOT less that when you buy it new. Maybe that explains it.
Peace!

Because some people only care about the tags on the clothes. Personally, I wouldn't buy clothes that cost that much. If I can get them on E-bay or at an outlet store, sure, but I'm NOT giving $40 or more for a pair of 2T jeans that will be worn maybe twice.

Different people, different values. My Mom bought things for my sister and I all the time as kids because she didn't have money growing up. Another reason is for status and to keep up appearances. When my kids are old enough to care about those things, they'll have a set amount of money to spend. If one gets 1 pair of shoes and the other gets 4 for the same cost, its their business. I hope I'm raising my children to value their own style and ideas more than the glitz of an expensive label, but we'll see. I like certain brands, but its because they fit me. I'm not gonna pay $300 for shoes or $600 for a purse ever. Its wasteful. Retiring in comfort and staying out of debt will make me happier than any designer label ever could.

Practical parents who dont make 3 figure incomes are happy enough to go to Wal mart or Target. Some times my kids get Carters, or other brand names but for hanging around the house or for arts & crafts we dont wear the 'nice clothes'.
You can get good buys at Ross and even Good Will. But you must be seeing weatlthy kids, cuz my kids have never owned anything by Tommy or Polo

I know what you mean I go to the WED mall to and go into all those stores selling the name brand clothes and wonder who in the world spends 75 bucks or more on a pair of jeans your kids not going to even wear them out .....its unbelievable really but you know what its folks like me that hit pay dirt....when I found out i was having a girl I went to these used clothing stores ...I'm from NB so we had Frenchys and other places like that .... and i got alot of these name brands your talking about for like 1 buck a pair of jeans, t-shirts dresses and jumpers...I just think we all want our kids looking good but in all honesty we are hurting ourselves for the future cause if there use to the best that earlie how in the world are we going to afford to dress them as teens........200 buck sneakers, 150 pair of jeans..........god help us all......all i can say is hand me downs i don't pass up......my kids use to all....... its not always brand names only if i get a really really good sale or find it at a used clothing store
its all about the parents ..........plain and simple

As a cheap a** mother of four, believe me, you can find very nice clothing that doesn't have to be name brand at consignment shops across the globe. I am also a garage sale expert who can fill up my kids seasonal wardrobe for less than $200. (And that's for all four each season.) Then there are some people who have to have the very best (or so they think for their kids). I've even ran across some "Welfare Mommies" who would spend their last on some name brand outfit for their kid who hasn't had a decent bath or meal. Can you say "STUPID"? Wake up, people...Tommy nor Jordan nor Ralph are going to throw you props for buying their gear. The Name Brand crap has alot of people thinking they are ballers when they aren't.

Obviously your priorities are different than mine. My daughter is 15 months and gets clothes from Old Navy, Target and Kmart. I am not a fan of Wal-Mart, plus their clothes look like rags after they are washed.....
I would rather be a stay at home mom and not be as materialistic as I use to be. My daughter is advanced, happy and a joy to be around. I am a consultant and work very part-time. We tried two different daycares part time, we were not impressed. (yes, we did our research and they were suppose to be two of the best in the area) Her classroom was actually the back entrance and the door was locked the first day when I was picking her up. (I came early as a surprise) They were just changing her after being there for THREE HOURS..... I had diapers marked....
I worked in three daycare centers and one home daycare during the summers while I was an undergrad, I know what they can be like for children and at the end of each day I would say I am going to be a stay at home mom!
Being at home with my angel has had her develop early in most things
*Our angel has slept through the night at two months mid-7am then longer as time went by.
*loves bedtime and when she wakes up she will do what we call "the happy dance” she loves her naps too. (am and pm) We have always tried to make bedtime a happy time.
*She is very pleasant and I get strangers on the street telling me how happy and delightful she is.. (I was in Costco the other day and this guy went to my hubby and asked if we though of having her in TV or Print. He gave us his business card, he runs an ad agency.)
*My angel started walking at 9 months
*She is now 15 months and can say mini sentences and can count to five and can say A-F
Personally, I have had a great career and I don't need a boss or company to tell me what I am worth. I can see the happiness everyday, when my baby wakes up such a happy disposition.
The only credit I need is watching her grow everyday and knowing I am giving my baby a good foundation for her future.

You can get a lot of those clothes at baby discount outlet malls and gently used baby stores. That is what I do. It is kind of pointless to buy your child $50 pants when they can only wear them for half a year! I personally dress my children VERY cute, but get the clothes at really LOW prices!

you must see all the rich kids cause in my neighborhood people can't afford to buy that for their kids. I sure can't. The only way my kids get name brand clothes like that is when they are hand me downs from someone else.
Also there are some stores that sell name brands for real cheap prices like AJ Wrights or Crowleys Value City etc. Maybe some parents shop there...........

I can't get my son (he's 3) to wear the nice clothes! I have some cute sweaters, little vests, cords etc and he hates them. I've resigned myself to putting those in the back of the closet, and letting him wear his sweats and t-shirts the majority of time.
Plus, we love to paint, play play dough, wrestle and other total boy stuff. I want him to enjoy being a kid, and not having me freak out b/c he might ruin his expensive jeans.
