I believe in the afterlife.
My happiness in afterlife will be exponentially proportional to the green area that I have planted , number of animals that I have rescued, amount of my support to people to live better, and amount of harm that I have removed from the environment during my existing life.
As per my religion literature, punishment in the afterlife is directly proportional to the harm that may cause to a man, animal, a plant, water source,... or any life resource.
Improving the universe for a growing better life on earth is the only reason for each man short life in this universe. As per the success/fail in this great mission will be each one grades in the afterlife.
Plants are the most lovely things to God. That is because plants are a measure of life continuation. And life is a main concept of God.
So, the prophet encouraged us to try to plant a tree just before departure from this universe to the other life.
I agree with you that some people do not understand the religions properly. They don't consider the main issue of the religion, and concentrate only on some personal , even not essential religious issues.

Well not all people who believe in an afterlife have the idea that they won't be coming back, either.
Those who believe in reincarnation are definitely interested in keeping this planet around.

Those who adhere to the tenets of " I am IN this world but not OF this world" are the ones who feel no responsibility to it. Their God will take care of it all when he comes back..or they don't care because they won't be here.

There is no responsibility in that belief at all toward this planet or other creatures that live here.. and of course, no thought for their own future generations, because their belief is that they're all getting out of here "soon".

I'm a pagan.. we care DEEPLY about this planet and what's taking place through global warming.

not a chance, you will have nothing to leave to anyone, and besides this planet is not yours to leave to anyone. Global warming is part of the whole "end of the world" picture. It is us also doing ourselves in because we refuse to come to Christ and let him help us to live correctly.
It really doesn't matter as I can not stop it or improve it. The problem is much bigger than you and I. Think of the global warming caused by shooting all of these rockets into space, the wars and bombing. It is just bigger than the average person can fix..

For me, as a Christian, I am not worried, as I know it's in God's hands. This world, even for an atheist, is on its way out. We have reaped what we have sowed. I believe in looking after this world, especially considering the God I believe in made it and entrusted us to it.

However, unless there is a divine intervention, those who follow after us, long after we are dead, will be living in a way we cannot imagine. As the environment becomes more and more hostile and there is no way now of reversing what is happening at a faster and faster rate.

Even the experts know that it's too far gone now. One of the top in that field has thrown his hands up, he used to encourage people to look after the environment, how now admits it's too late.

Not too late for God. He made the world, I doubt He'll have any problems restoring it, which is exactly what the bible says will happen. Just a pity we allowed this to happen, but no surprise. The environment is also a reflection of society, which is also deteriorating.

It must, all of them seem to drive cars and don't care.

I once asked Christians if they could justify killing God's world with their Autos and I was told I was BASHING CHRISTIANS.

So there's your answer.

If you could Kindly get GOD to make an announcement that ANYONE who drives a car won't go to heaven, it might make a slight difference.

For some reason people think all you need do is Believe in Jesus and God and you can pollute the air, have premarital sex, get no fault divorce and basically have a jolly time in life for YOU HAVE A GET OUT OF JAIL FREE card.

I don't quite view it that way.

They are really aware, because without a good life now we cannot attain the good fruit of the afterlife.
The lesson of eternal life is the truth which reminds man to be heedful of anything benificial to the human race right now.

Well i believe in an afterlife, but that in no way means i think that we should destroy this planet. I feel, as you do, that we must leave this planet for generations to come
