What am I missing in trying to dub a DVD?

I'm dubbing 4 cds for my dad to pay off some debt. I'm using a DR-MX1S. I know now that you have to "finalize" it after dubbing it to get the visual feed to work on a computer, but the sound still doesn't work; what am I doing wrong?

More details please. Are you "Burning" a CD, or a DVD?
Where are you trying playback? In a player? a computer? Did you try more than one playback machine. What video format are you using (VR Mode, Video Mode).
