If so, do you feel that it has worked for you? Has it elevated your moods any? I live in a part of the country where the days are very short now, and most of the days are very cloudy. I feel sort of slowed down and moody. I would like to try light therapy, but I don't want to waste my money if it doesn't really work. The light boxes are not that cheap.

no i haven't but, oddly enough, i looked that up earlier today on the web because i too am feeling depressed and grumpy. crymy!you could make a wooden box, line it with heavy aluminum foil, install the the little fixtures and wire, buy your bulbs on the web, or a lighting store (maybe ebay?) and plug that sucker up for as little as $30. that is, unless you are just not handy at all. i may do that this week. lol mate!

I have depression, and I use a light source that is a natural light and it was bought at Bi-mart for $20(us dollars). Yes it works!. You need to use it in the morning, cause otherwise it wakes the body up too action. Also you need to do it regularly, every morning for 20 minutes. It will work if you do it. SAD is treatable. You need to go to the doctor and tell him/her of the symptoms, then get a prescription for depression. The light doesnt work well without medicine(dont mix herbs and prescriptions together, it will mess you up.)
The light boxes are expensive, but the natural light has to be 40 watt bulb. The light lamp is synthetic, but on the box it has to say natural light.

I found that fake and bake tanning really improved my mood in the winter months when I lived in seattle. I came from arizona where the sun was always out and moved to seattle where the sun may not come out for weeks. I also had an outside job in arizona and worked indoors in seattle. The tanning beds really helped.

We use a light box frequently and they have worked for our family. We bought our box on Ebay for about $150 with shipping..

We have full spectrum lights around the house, and my wife had me put them in my office. I don't know if they do anything, but it doesn't hurt anything to use them. You don't necessarily have to buy light boxes, as the bulbs are sold in health food stores.
