If the DVD player has a special plug-in socket for attaching a microphone, will the lyrics to a karaoke DVD being played on it show up on the television set? I am taking into consideration the way a lot of DVD players are labelled as "DVD with karaoke".

I am just wondering.

When I wrote "a karaoke DVD", I really meant to say "a karaoke CD". I presume it is apparent anyways and that people know what I meant.

A karaoke DVD can be played on any DVD player. The karaoke songs are just short music videos with the lyrics superimposed over them. The only features that make a standard DVD player into a "karaoke DVD player" are microphone inputs and possibly digital key control.

A standard DVD player will play karaoke DVD discs but NOT karaoke CDG discs which is the most popular format. Also, a standard DVD player does not have microphone inputs and controls nor a digital key control and other karaoke functions. Your best bet is to go with a multi-format karaoke disc player that will offer versatility. Some are no more expensive than a quality DVD player.
