thinking about it....in almost all religions

Because MAN (as in the MEN) fears the power of the woman who is the wife and mother.

Think about this.

Before the Israelites and those ancient middle east wars of the old testament, there was Mother Earth, the Goddess, or Gaia. Witness the huge number of fertility goddess statues found on archaeological digs. The female was worshipped and revered because she held the power of giving birth and nuturing the children - both boys and girls. Without the mother, MAN simply could NOT exist.

Then the Ancient Middle east decided that women had too much power so they started worshiping male gods. Women were demonised as prostitutes (viz the New testament) and have never been able to reclaim their power.

Why else is Eve depicted as weak and submissive. So that Adam, the man, can be all powerful.

Sure men claim there is equality - but we all know that pay-equity still does not happen in this so called "enlightened" era.

In some cultures women are still regarded as "property" belonging first to their fathers, and then to their husbands.

Men are allowed sleep around and "sow their oats" and they are admired. But women are called sluts if they sleep around, and have children out of wedlock.

One more thing - if anyone (man or woman) claims to be a follower of wicca or paganism, they are instantly demonized as witches and therefore evil. Wicca is simply following the original mother goddess religion. But thats something that MAN cannot allow in case women become too powerful again.

That is inaccurate. Even in traditional Christian organizations women have always held a prominant role as deaconesses, teachers, ministers, etc. The only role that women have been excluded from is 'father.' I wonder why that is? If you think that women have not had any power in Jesus based Churches, take a look at history. Women convened two of the seven Ecumenical councils (Second and Seventh)... that is wielding a lot of power. Before 1054 AD bishops, popes and patriarchs could not convene Ecumenical councils, and yet Theodora got the Second Ecumenical Council to review a prior decision against the Monophysites, and Irene convened a council that successfully overthrew the Iconoclastic Church.

Because women would change things.

It's rediculous really. Women were the head of the household when we were hunter gatherers. They watched the children, made the medicine and knew extensively which plants were good to eat and which were not. Plus they were revered for being able to do something as magical as create a child. If you look at pictures of tribal gods, many are very fertile looking women with exaggerated femininity.

When the Catholic Church wanted to change Pagans to Christians they didn't want any of that in the church, so they demonized women. That's where you get the Witch. Those poor women were making medicine in their cauldrens, not evil potions.

Anyway, women are still demonized today. They are punished for Eve's sin and are considered lesser beings in many ways. It's easier for the Church if women are submissive since they would be extremely powerful otherwise.

What's sad is this has carried over into most protestant faiths in many ways, and women are still seen have to be submissive to be a good Christian. That's why they don't lead churches.

It's slowly changing, like in the Episcopal Church, but even in that church there is a lot of resistance.

The simplest reason women aren't given much power in churches is because women already give birth, which is pretty magical. It actually makes a woman more powerful and more valuable than a man.

The other reason, is because men tend to be in charge in most societies. So that gets reflected in the various religions.

The bible says foe a woman to keep silence in the church
Then on the other hand it says that there not male or female in Christ Jesus If you go to a church that don't allow woman to do any thing I would find another church to go to, If you fast and pray
you'll get the power that you want, Fasting and praying is the only you get power with GOD

Not all Cristian denominations limit what a woman can do. For example, in the Presbyterian church a woman can be a minister. It's really all just a holdover from the old patriarchal days of old.

WOMEN IN SCRIPTURE:
God gives great value to women as recorded in Scripture...and places great value in their dignity and honor:

Deborah was a judge raised up by God to lead in a time of great distress for Israel.

Mary was chosen to bear God's own Son! What an honor.to be the one to bring God's own Son into the world!

Esther was used by God to save the entire nation of Israel from destruction !.

Read the the ENTIRE Scriptures....instead of projecting your ignorance and bias against the bible.

Intelligent people understand what the Scriptures really say. Fools try to make it support thier own foolish agenda.
