Ask a Vet to give you The reason for death. You don't want to go through this twice, and your friend may not be giving adequate care to these puppies, and that needs to be discovered and intervened with if it is so.
If money is a problem, phone your nearest SPCA & ask to speak with a knowledgeable Animal Control Officer or other experienced, educated person re. indicators that may have been there but not obvious to someone unfamiliar with puppies/animals.
Don't just let the matter drop. As the first answer said, there is a reason for this, and all involved people and animals need your follow through.
Do the right thing & you won't regret it.

It would depend on why it died. Did you take it to a vet to find out? It very well could have died from something it had when you aquired it. Has it have all of it's shots. At that age it should have had several sets by now. If I thought for a minute that it died from something it got there from a lack of vacccinations there is no way I would get another or bring another animal in my house period until it had been completely disinfected with bleach. Talk to vet.

First I'd find out why it died. I wouldn't want another one from the same litter if they had a disease that they could all have--who wants that heartbreak 2 times. Backyard breeders sometimes wean dogs too early, don't get shots, etc. etc. As to whether I would take one for free if I had paid for the first one--any good breeder will replace a puppy for free or give you your money back. And your friend is a breeder even if this is the first litter she's bred and has responsibilities to breed healthy pups.

Well I think that I would try to know why the puppy died and if it was not the friend's fault I would probaly take another one. It's a dificult question, but you, what do you think? from the bottom of your heart? If you feel comfortable with it yes. If no, well don't take it. You may not trust your friend for the dogs and may want to get one from a trainer.
Hope it helps you!

Who's fault was it that the puppy died?
Genetics, breeding or human error (haha or all)?
If it was my friends fault or bad breeding I wouldnt want a puppy from the same litter or fron your friend that has poor judgement, however if the puppy died from an accident like gettting run over, maybe you should take the time to greive and not get another one right away.

If I knew why the other puppy died and it was not a contagious disease, then yes, I would take the new pup. If you don't know yet why the puppy died, wait to make sure you are not setting youself up for more heartache.

I'm sorry about your puppy. Why did it die? Is the litter sick with something like parvo? I would take it to the vet to get it checked out before i took it in and got my heart broken again.

If I wanted it I would. But, have the puppies been to a vet? Have they had their shots or been wormed? I would ask these ?s first and wouldn't take it unless I was sure it was healthly and I really, really wanted a puppy because they are quite a responsibility.

Depends on how much the puppy costs and you should probably take it to the vet as soon as you get it.
