Completley teriffied of Needles.
Having Blood Test soon.
Panicking and thinking about cancelling - to scared.
Will it hurt ?
How big is the needles ?
Can i bring someone with me ?

grit your teeth tightly. have a friend go in with you to squeze your hand during the process.
i don't think it hurts. it's llke a bad pin prick. tell yourself over and over, this will be over, this will be over.

If the technician is good, it shouldn't hurt more than a pinch. You will feel some pressure under the skin and then it will all be over in a few seconds. The needle is hollow and not very long. I was taught to look away while the needle goes in but some of my nurse friends say this raises your anxiety. I think it depends how scared you are. In either case, the technician will probably talk to you to divert your attention so go along with the conversation. Bringing someone may help in the same way. The test is more important to your future than a little passing discomfort.

It doesn't really hurt... its more like a sharp pinch (for me it kinda stings). Don't cancel it please b/c if you need a blood test then its important you need to keep it. Plus if you cancel it then you'll just have to reschedule at worry about it all over again. The needle is actually smaller than that of a shot. I have had both a flu shot and had blood drawn lately, and saw (acadentally) both needles, and I think the flu shot needle was bigger. In most cases you can definately take someone with you, I almost always do. But, you can definately take a cd player or an ipod to distract you during the draw. I think it REALLY helps to take someone with you and hold their hand, having someones hand to hold always makes it easier for me. When you get in the room, take some deep breaths, make sure you don't look at the needle or the nurse doing the draw, and try your best to relax. I know its really hard, but keep deep breathing, squeeze someones hand and wiggle your toes. If you do all that you won't have time to think about the needle too :) Good luck and be brave!!

i answered a question from a girl that was identical to this one. what ups with that.
the needle hurts about as much as a person who pinches you except the pain will not last even that long.
the needle is not long look at your arm see the viens that is the depth the needle has to go .
the width of the needle is not as big as the sewing needles i have in a little pack for sewing on a button by hand.
you can bring the town with you if you really want.
you are really over reacting . forget about it and go out and have a ball on new years eve.
after you have had this test done you will laugh at yourself for thinking so much about this blood test needle.

You can bring someone with you. Best thing is just not to look at the procedure. This along with any other distraction with really reduce the amount of pain you feels. The pain will really be like a pinch but if you focus on what the technition is doing you can make it hurt more. The needle is usally about the size of an earing post.

Blood tests don't hurt at all. It depends on the type of test that you have to have but usurally the needle is very small. In some cases you can even ask the nurse (or person taking the blood) for a small needle and they will use the smallest one they have if they can

Why are so many people afraid of a little pain? Will you die from a blood test? No...therefore, stop worrying about it. There are worse things in life to worry about than a needle to draw blood.
You will feel a slight burn as the needle enters the vein. Then they draw blood. Then remove the needle and you place a cotton swab on the insertion and leave for about 5 hours. Nothing to it.

i had my very first one a couple months ago. i hate needles too, and i was scared. i didn't even know that i was going to get one. truthfully it doesn't hurt, well at least it didn't for me. but when i did have it done, they usually take it from your arm. i have it taken from my hand because they said my blood veins were too small, and skinny. i also helped at a blood drive. and nobody was crying or anything. so it doesn't really hurt, when you are sitting there, just don't think about it, and look the other way. thats what i did. dont be scared, i was a bit worried when i had to go for one, but their is no need.
you feel the needle for a second, no big deal, to be honest i dont know what size the needle is because i never look at it, i always look ahead and think of something else, but really, once you have been you wont be worried about going again

I hate hate hate needles, but if you need a blood test, you really should just go. Don't look at the needle and just don't look. It's over fairly fast.

I don't know if you can bring someone with you...the needle I believe is standard size and as for hurting...it's uncomforterable that much I can say
