For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. James 3:16

A selfish person tends to rate their happiness against others. Therefore, if they can make others less happy, they can be happier in context.

I have preached that concept for years.
We are better people, and feel better if we concentrate on the needs of others, and pray for the needs of others.

We are worse people, and feel worse if we concentrate on oursleves.
