If there were a Heaven, all would get in, and it wouldn't require a single good deed. Besides we all carry out hundreds of good deeds every year just by going about our business. Did you ever hold the door open for the person behind you?

Good deeds do not get us into heaven. The serial killer get in because he believes in God and turns his life over to Him. The baby is just an innocent being that cannot believe in God - they cannot really think like that. So, they are let into heaven.

Remember God is a merciful God. We are all born with sin, but God also understands there is an age of reason and understanding. God knows our hearts. It is also a great thing that God will forgive a serial killer that repents and accepts Jesus as their savior. God did say that many will enter heaven through the wide gate, we should strive to enter with the few through the narrow gate.
God Bless!

The serial killer wouldn't be getting into Heaven because of his good deed. He'd be getting into Heaven through the blood of Jesus. It has very little to do with him and everything to do with Him.

good deeds cannot get you into heaven at all. believeing in God and Jesus dying on the cross for you and asking for forgiveness of your sins and asking him to come into your heart and lead your life that gets you into heaven but remeber God knows your heart so sincerity counts

Only for a second; while they say, "Get the hell out of here."
No one will be forgiven just for asking for forgiveness. They must stop sinning forever. If the Creator feels you will do that then you will be forgiven; but, remember it's a further fall to hell from Heaven if they have to send you there afterwords.

We know that the thief on the cross next to Jesus went to heaven that day. What good deed did he do nailed to the cross next to our Lord? I think his hands were tied, so to speak.

Actually it's not the deed. You have to go and kneel at the Baptist preacher's altar and do a special incantation, then you get saved. It's a good deal. You can still sin, but be discreet. You won't find a better deal anywhere, not even in the Catholic church.
