I've been talking to this guy for 4mths now, everything is going great. Never thought I had a good chance with him. But then out of nowhere..we started conversating..and he tells me about his past gf, and that was years ago..and he tells me there's a little something in him that still loves her..even though she moved on with her life. Even though he did say it never came across his mind to have a gf,,,but I guess that means..he doesnt stress on having a gf.Now I sit there..lost cause I dont know how I can compete with that...I truly like this guy and want to be more than a friend. But I dont know how I can do that, when he is still not over this past gf. I need advice, should I just be friends for the time being, or just keep trying to see where it goes?.

I dont think you should do anything different than you would with him. He might have some memories that he can't let go of, but that doesn't mean some NEW experiences won't take the place of that old attachment he's clinging to.

Just be friends for now and see what happens. You should probably think at this point if you are able to give your whole heart to him but he still is reserving part of his for someone else then he probably can't put his whole self into a relationship with you. Been there done that learned the hard way.

It is mean of this guy t put you through this. I suggest the only thing to do is to take a breeak from him, and then with any luck, when he gets someone new, then YOU will be the one he is thinking about. Then you can either take him back, or you will have moved on by then and found someone who apreciates you for what you are. there doesn't seem much chance he will get back with this ex to me.

maybe if you start going out then that little part of him that still loves her will be fulfilled with you..anyway i hope no one will miss someone forever. after a cuple months and sometimes a year or two he will be over her
