Some of our DVDs had dots or spots on the disc and the player said "bad disc".
These were in the cases. How did they go bad???

Will the spots remove if you clean them with dvd cleaning kit? Then your player might not reject them. Could the discs in their cases be in an area of the room that is damp? Or stored in a steamy room like a kitchen? It could just be mildew.

For the cheapest way to clean the DVD is to get water and toilet tissue. Rub the tissue with water, up and down on the DVD, not circular now. Then a dry tissue, rubbing up and down. Looking sideways, you can see if the DVDs spots are gone. Leaving DVD loose they may collect moisture from the humidy in the air. This happens to some old dvds of mine, but after cleaning they work as good as new. When it says bad disc, the spot on the dvd is interfering with laser reading of the DVD , hence bad disk.

Sometime the eye that put the info on the CD can be over powerful and burn a hold on the middle of the Cd's layers . If you look at it it will look like a hole or a dot but if you run your finger across it it will be smooth. There really isn't a way to fix it and I hope its not a defect in your DVD player!!!! GOOD LUCK
