I own a Ford Escape XLT and would like to know what the XLT means. I also would like to find out what the XLS means even though I don't own it. It is the same make and model, just a different badge.

The letters don't really stand for anything.
they are just 'trim' levels
XLS is a base model
XLT is a step up & gives you more standard (& optional) equipment
Limited is top of the line with more standard equipment (& availability of more options)

Not sure about the "X", but I believe the "LT" is luxury touring and the "LS" is luxury sport.
