The guy I am going out with has admitted that he will always feel as though he is competing with my ex. He says it is b/c my ex and I have known eachother forever. Will this be there forever??

If you are going to continue to have a close "friend" relationship with your ex, then yes. It will always threaten your current boyfriend. Do you want to deal with this all the time, or can you tell your ex that he is jeopardizing any chance for you having any trust from your current bf? Let your ex go. He's an ex for a reason.

Probably, but if it is, then your guy has some issues. He should know that you are not going out with our ex, you are going out with HIM. That has to mean something to him. Just sit down with him and explain that you like him, not your ex, if it comes up again. Don't just bring it up out of the blue, or he might get the wrong idea.

Sweetie, This will always be a part of your life and it something you can not change. Does he not have exs. You have to reassure him the it is in your past and he is you NO. 1. He will eventually come to grips with this. He probably will never forget but as you build up the trust and your love, it will get easier. GOOD LUCK

Yes, probably. I'm going through the same thing. They just don't like knowing you loved somebody else. Just let them know that you love them more than anything and you and your ex are history now.

Sounds like your friend is not secure about his standing with you. Do you bring up your ex a lot or are you and your ex on a friendly basis.

Let your friend know that it is him that you adore and your ex is a part of your past. He needs to be secure with himself.

Not necessarily, I have learned that geographic location has alot to do with it. If your ex is located nearby, then it is not as likely for him to get over it.

hopefully not, you're ex shouldn't be trying to compete with anyone especially your ex. talk to him, ask how he would feel if you were to compete with his ex girfriend.

yeah, he would rather you pay no more attention to your ex, for fear that you will grow feelings for your ex again

he wants you to spend time with him, not your ex
