My rule is this: Split the check, or split. If a guy ever tried to pay for me, he'd never see my face again. I deserve equality in all respects.

It depends... are you referring to a first date? If so, I always offer but rarely has a guy ever let me pay for the whole thing. In my current relationship, it goes back and forth. Usually, I split the cost or at least cover the tip.

other dates - sometimes me sometimes him (so 50-50)

On the frist date I think the guy should pay but after you've been going out for awile she should start paying or split it up. To me he scores points if he offers to pay on the first date not that i'm cheap or anything I just think it shows your a decent guy and that's hard to find these days.

The guy pays the dinner but later that night I pay for the cab that we both take.

If he asked me out, he pays.
If I asked him out, I pay.
If we've been dating a while, sometimes we share expenses.
Sometimes even if he asks and he's new, I pay for some things, like if we stop for gas and I decide I want a soft drink, I don't feel right making him pay for it. (sometimes he does anyway over my protestations, lol!)
