i takes a really long time to straighten my hair, i dont have some cheap straightner..it was like $180 or something..do you think its defective? (i have the artizen iron btw) Would putting some gel on make it take less time? i have to go to a party soon..i only have a couple of hours! my hair's still wet and taking forever to blow dry! does the type of shampoo you use effect it? maybe it's because my hairs TOO thick and wavy? i use pantene, what other shampoos are good for straight hair? HELP!!

well gel wont help. Shampoo and conditioners only show the SLIGHTEST difference, and thats like only the first time you use a diffent shampoo/ conditioner. I have to strighten my hair too, and it does take a while, but its just the process of having patience to strighten it. Have fun at your party!!!

If it's giving you this much of a fight, you should try either body lotion or any thick, creamy styler you have on hand. Get the ends really well, then blow dry normally, and go over gently w/ the straightener. If you have a silicone product use that after all the styling for a sleeker finish. In the future try using Matrix sleek.look. I have similar hair and I use Aveda, because I don't find it as heavy, but my mom swears by the Matrix.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Straight Ahead shampoo and conditioner give pretty good straight results. It takes a long time to straighten my hair too but just do small sections and run some hair serum through it first... But remember straight isn't always the answer - it doesn't have to be straight for that party!!

Pantene is not the best stuff. Use L'oreal Professionel from your salon. LOT better. You call $180 cheap lol? I have a Sedu for $200 or so and it works great.
You need straightener gel, like Redken's Heat Glider or Biosilk serum.

Good luck.

Pantene is practically straight floor wax. It could be weighing your hair down. To straighten my hair I use a clarifying shampoo and try to avoid putting any more product in my hair than needed.

I have a straightner made by conair that straightens wet hair. You can get it at target or wal mart and it costs only about $40. You can also try straightening spray made by john frieda you cna also get it at target or wal mart or any beauty store. Also I have that new infiniti blow dryer that straightens and dries, I love it it is amazing and it's not like you have to spend hours straightening it took me only about 30 minutes.

Use a product like bed head after hours to smooth it out before you blow dry it.I used to have that same problem by the way.

whatever you do, don't straighten your hair when it's wet. when the water turns to steam, it expands inside your hair and "boils" it from the inside. it will not only make it frizzy for tonight, but it will cause long term damage too.
i find that herbal essences dangerously straight shampoo makes my easier to manage and straighten.

pantene "dangourously straight" is all I can think of! Is that what you use? I'd try another straightener like the one that can straighten wet hair.
