No one from the study group visited Iraqi Kurdistan, which the group admits is safe and pro-American, and where there has not been a single U.S. casualty since the war.
~~~~~~~~~Article ~~~~~~~~~
The Iraq Study Group's recommendations will accomplish nothing in Iraq. Its expressions of "gratitude" to those of us Iraqis who fought on the battlefield for freedom and liberty ring hollow. The report ignores our accomplishments, dreams and sacrifices in favor of a concern for those whose ultimate goal is the destruction of democracy.
Our federal constitution, which the majority of the Iraqi people voted for, is treated flippantly, as though it were a negotiable document rather than the hard-fought result of lengthy negotiation among those willing to participate in the new Iraq. Further, the study group's approach is driven by the concerns of the countries in this region rather than by the concerns of the Iraqi people.
Thank you for the article. You confirm what I believed of the Kurdish people in the north of Iraq. It was worth going into Iraq.
I don't know how successful Iraq would be today, but it seems that it would be just common sense to study a problem before taking action. I am sure that Obama's plan would have been better than a Bush war based on lies and no plan whatsoever. This is just my opinion on the subject and I am far from being an expert on combat, however, Bush should have finished going after the terrorists in Afghanistan before starting another conflict with another country. What was the hurry to invade Iraq? Bush had the CIA report, there was no WMD in Iraq. I was under the impression that we were at war with terrorists. Most intelligent, logical thinkers finish what they start before moving forward on another project; yet Bush competely abandoned going after the people who attacked the US. He dismissed the terrorists as "unimportant," and now we the people are going to pay for it with more loss of our troops lives. Those boys are sitting ducks in Afghanistan because they are out numbered and nothing is being done about it. How could Bush have let over 500 terrorist escape from jail in Afghanistan in May? Didn't common sense tell him we would be out numbered? Yesterday we lost so many troops in Afghanistan it is criminal. Bush needs to stop strutting around his ranch playing cowboy and do something good for a change.
