It really depends on how mature you think your kid is. My mom started leaving me at home alone when i was 8 but i had sense. Kids these days are crazy i would say 12.

All states have a "legal age" that a child could be left alone. Call your local police (not 911) and ask them they will be happy to tell you. But you must take into consideration the maturity of your child. If the age is 12 and they or you do not feel they are ready then wait awhile. States also have laws about at what age a child can be left alone in cars while parents run into stores. Inquire about that also when you talk to your police officers. Hope this helps..

Legally speaking, it depends on the state. In Florida, it used to be 12, not sure if that is still true. It really depends on the child. Are they responsible enough, are they too afraid if left alone, do they know what to do if there is an emergency and so on. It also depends on how long they will be alone, if it is daylight or night, if anyone close by is available in case of a problem, etc.

In Virginia there used to be (may still be) 13 years old or older. I would agree that it depends on the child and their responsibility and the time you leave them alone. I do know that most day cares are only able to keep a child until it's 13th birthday.

Between 10 and 13 depending on the maturity of your child. My mom left me home at 9 when she drove my sister to a soccer practice 3 minutes away with my gramma next door twice a week for "practice". When I was 11, I started to get off the bus with my sister, who was 9, and stay home for two hours until she got home. It just depends on your child.

i think legally any age that is considered a child is illegal... my hubby and i have had this discussion sevreal times... he feels 16 or older but i feel when you know your child is old enough to handle the responsibilty... no younger than 12 though and be reasonble in the amount of time you actually leave the child unsupervised like not overnight and no longer than a few hours depending on the age of the child.

It depends, whenever you feel that they are responisble.

This can happen as EARLY as 8 or 9 years of age, or as LATE 12-13 years. I think the AVERAGE is around 10. But thats JUST for 2 hours or LESS. For OVERNIGHT I'd say around 13 or 14.

I started staying home alone since I was 8.

That depends on how responsable and mature your kid is. I think that as an average 15 years old. To be on the safe side check what is the legal age in your state.

That depends on the child, really.

I was 10 when my mom started leaving me home while she ran quick errands. I didn't start staying home for long periods of time until I was about 12.

When you feel your child is responsible enough, that is the right time to leave them home alone.
