How do I get my sleep schedule back on track so that I wake up at 6 AM?

Consider buying an alarm clock to set the time that you would like to wake up. Then, decide on a proper time to go to bed, for then you get a decent night's sleep.

If I slept until 4pm, I would stay up until midnight and set my alarm for 6am and begin getting back on schedule again.

well, what time did you go to bed?

i wouldn't let myself sleep so late, thus i'd be more likely to wake up in the morning when i needed to. also, i'd make sure i'm eating properly, getting plenty of exercise and hydration. if you're taking in caffeine, i'd watch the amount. often when i drink coke or coffee anytime after noon, it will affect my sleep later that night.
