states often dont recognize other states gun permits as valid. ur gun is only legal in the state that issues the permit.
ohio has a concealed carry law. semi's are considered a place of employment, and the employer has the right to ban weapons from either his trucks, or property.
a pa gun permit is worthless in ohio and vice versa.
any trucker that winds up pulled over and is found to have a concealed weapon, he will go down for it if that state forbids concealed carry...reguardless if he's originally from a state that allows concealed carry with a permit.

There is a very fine line to carrying weapons in CMV's. First of all, you need to have a federal concealed weapons permit being most states will not recognize a permit from a different state. Second, if you work for the postal service or any government agency in which you have a contract with them for transportation, you might be able to carry a weapon. According to the Federal Motor's Carriers Regulations, it is against the law to carry any weapon in any commercial vehicle for whatever reason with a few exemptions as I have stated above.
Even if you jump all the hurdles to get a federal concealed weapon permit, you may not be allowed to have a concealed weapon on the property of the shipper, reciever, or even your own terminal. Check all local laws as they have juridiction over the federal permit.
I think that having a concealed weapon is not the answer to protect yourself. But being an OTR truck driver myself, I have seen instances in which it wouldn't hurt to have one available. If you know the areas you are going to, you know where the "trouble areas" are. Just because you have a concealed weapons permit doesn't give the excuse to go looking for trouble.
Take care and drive safe. Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, contact your local DOT and they will be more then willing to help you.

Only in the state where the concealed carry permit was issued and any state where there is a reciprocity agreement. If you drive from MO with a MO permit to IL, you'll be busted if caught in IL which does not issue permits at all.
There may be Federal regs that ban guns in big rigs, much like the fed rule that bans radar detectors. Been a while since I drove the big rigs.

Most states that allow concealed weapons have a reciprocity agreement. I know Oklahoma recognizes other states permits. Read this article in Wikipedia:

If you drive within the a State that you are licensed. I don't believe it would qualify as an interstate license.
Write to these people and your congressman to get a bill started for a law benefitting OTR Truckers to carry a interstate concealed license.

Yeah, you can as long as you don't leave the Interstate. Once you hit the state roads, you're in violation and could be prosecuted.

Of course. Unless you are working for someone else who has a rule against it.
