I am having therapy for a personality disorder. One of the girls in my 'group' has just killed herself by jumping in front of a train. Why am i envious and is it normal to keep thinking about her body in pieces?

Please help i am so confused.

Many many many thanks

Someone has caused you to be this way...you are all messed up in the head because of what someone has done to you in the past...were you molested? as a little girl? were you left to be made feel like you were the fault? It sounds like you are envious because you are so hurt inside, and you didn't have the guts to end it like she did,...darling, I pray you will find the Lord Jesus Christ in your life...and God, ...and...and learn to forgive the people who did what they did to you....the Lord loves you...and doesn't want you to kill yourself...but that is why you envied her...you really are deeply wounded, and wish you could do the same thing...but it isn't in your future for this to happen..Pray to the Good Lord, and give Him your burdens...He will show you the way..and to all those who gave me thumbs down? YOU're not really giving ME the thumbs down, but rejecting Jesus...

Ok I was in group therapy for awhile (DBT) and from my experience you'll probably talk about it the next time you meet. Hash out all the feelings, discuss ways to cope etc etc. It doesn't matter if it's normal or not. Because you already know you're suffering from an illness so why obsess about being "normal". I know that that's hard to do but you need to think that way. Secondly if you start thinking about it TOO much ie start planning on doing it instead of just thinking about it sort of thing then you need to not wait until the next session and contact your main therapist (if you have one) or the group facilitator immediately! Good luck and I hope you feel more in control.

Sometimes the brain gets fixated on the things that cause it to feel weak or afraid and in order to empower yourself or deal with the uncomfortable feeling associated in experiencing that sort of thing, you bridge incorrect associations and feel abnormally kindred or overly accepting of the kinds of things that most people find repulsive. Its like backward empathy. It's a more severe form of the condition where people laugh uncontrollably at others when they get hurt

Sometimes people just do it for the shock value and the attention?

It is a disorder and something that you should discuss with your doctor. If you are suicidal you would naturally feel envious of someone that has made it out (so to speak) Speak to someone and don't hold it in because you are embarrassed or feel weird about it. Talk to someone!

Constantly re hashing negative images in your mind can also be symptomatic of OCD. That is actually quite normal behavior for someone that is obsessive compulsive.

Don't try anything Extreme, Listen If you're Girlfriend tried to Jump off the Brooklyn Bridge or the Jump in front of a Subway Train, would you do It, Use better Judgment then that.

This is the wrong place to bring this up for sure.
Talk to your group facilitator about your feelings.
