I have this question because I want to become a law enforcement officer, but I got 1 felony charge and don't know if I can become one, right now I am in the u.s army, and after that I will go to college to study the law and justice. This will be easy for me because it is already written, if anyone seen or heard a convicted person working for the government let me know. THANKS

You will need to check with the state that you are planning on trying to live in and see what thier governing agency for law enforcement says about it. In Texas, our is TCLEOSE, and according to them you would not be allowed to be a Peace Officer in the state of Texas with the felony conviction.

Of course there are always ways of trying to appeal it. You can write to them and explain to them the charge and what happened and show proof that you have been in the military so long, and even graduating college. They might waiver it for you.

Good Luck...

A Convicted felon cannot become a law enforcement officer, unless you can go before a judge and have the Conviction and arrest expunged from your record!!

It depends on what the crime was and how long its been since the crime happened. If its been long enough, like 2 years at least, and you didn't shoot anyone, you should still be able to become a law enforcement officer.

YOu might be able to become a law enforcement officer if you were under 18 when it happened.
otherwise you would need a pardon from the govenor of your state.
GOOD LUCK!

(2) NO-cops are not taking felons
(3) there are probably many felons in the government, just haven't been caught or convicted.
