They're my kind of group.
There's more...at the end:
Do you ever fear the night
Could it be the war is lost
Do you fear the final hour
Do you kneel before the cross
You're blinded by rainbows
And watching the wind blow
Blinded by rainbows
Do you dream at night
Do you scream at night
Do you smell of fear
Is your conscience clear
Are you caked in sweat
Are your clothes all wet
Do you see the light
Is the end in sight
See the face of Christ
Enter paradise
I doubt it

I had to smile as I read this because...years ago, I was working in my yard and fussing at God that I had too much to do, and no one to help me. (I was always helping others and seemed to get no help from church members in return.) Just then, as I thought "but I am lucky. I never had nails put in me like Jesus did" I raised up from the ground, into a plank with nails, and put one right through my head. Off to the hospital, with a smile on my face at God's sense of humor, or at least, my own clumsiness.
In all seriousness, these words in the song are probably not to be taken literally; have we felt an extreme pain? Have we ever had something hurt so bad that it felt like flesh tearing? I think a lot of us have had pain that we didn't think we could endure, but over time, we healed.

I love that song.and to answer your question, yes it is hard to believe they sang that kind of song. But,I believe all singers have a certain amount of faith inside. You'd be surprised to know just who is into religion but sing songs that are the opposite...I think they gave us a little glimpse of their inner self with this song. And I'd love to hear more like this one...~hugs~ Ladybug

No, but I bet Rev. Ted Haggard would equate that sensation with coming down from a weekend meth & anal sex binge in a seedy motel with his favorite male prostitute!
