Usually the school holds functions and activities around the times that the children become 13. That is about when the parents discover the necessity of becoming CHAPARONES and taking an active part in their new teenager's lifestyle.
This is usually the time that the parents start setting the parameters for dating. Generally, if you tell a child NO, you are headed for more trouble. Hundreds of years ago, 13 year olds were marrying, holding office and even running ranches and farms.
Don't let modern day society come between you and your child. Look back at what YOU were doing at the age that YOU started to date and ask yourself this question again.

Well im a teenager also, and to me a good age to start dating is 17 maybe 16 depending on hoe mature you are. My parents always tell me that 18 is the most appropriate age, but i think if you can handle going on a mature date with somebody then 17 is an appropriate age.

When I was a teenager and that was about 30 years ago, 16 was the age a girl could date provided it was acceptable by the parents. Now a days I think girls should be 18. There is to much promiscuity among teenagers today and to many unwed teenage pregnancy's.

It really depends on the nature and purpose of the date. If the activity is absolutely supervised, then there is nothing wrong with 'dating' at about 14, but usually when people say 'date' they mean go out alone. This can lead to trouble and teen pregnancies. Young people do not usually understand what is at stake physically and emotionally when they have sex, and how this can affect their future. You have to be so careful and guard your purity, because it is more important to you than it is to whoever you will be with. If you will be in a public place, then you will be fine, but if you are going to be spending a lot of time alone, then you need to be old enough to face the consequences. I see a lot of 16 yo's who say they've been 'dating' a certain person for 3 or so years and they are going to get married. Well. This is like a little girl putting on high heeled shoes and streaking makeup across her face and thinking she looks like a lady. This is only pretending at life, and does not reflect reality. Save the serious stuff for when you are old enough to be married.

16 is a good age if it is supervised there is so much kids do now today that it is scary to think of a young girl going out alone on a date with some of these boys. I have three daughters that will be teenagers in a couple of years and I can tell you I hope your parents are involved so much can happen i dread when they come to me wanting to date.

If you want to start a serious relationship, then about 16, 15 at the very least if you are extra mature.
Most kids start at about 12 -13 just to "have a boyfriend or girlfriend" and fit in. It really doesn't mean anything.
I'm 14, going on 15 and never had a g/f, so....
