Ok, the question should be who wrote the books in the Bible. Moses recorded the Torah,(Genesis-Deut.) and most of the other books authors or attributed authors are plainly stated at the opening. Some we just don't know. But all were men under inspiration of God. This is all I will say, 1 atheist a day is all I can handle.

"Holy men of old spoke (wrote) as they were guided (borne along) by the Holy Spirit."

----------------------------------------------

The Bible is a compilation of works by more than 40 authors, written during a period of about 1,600 years, yet it is unified in spirit, outlook and inspiration.

The earliest parts of the Bible were written in approximately 1500 B.C.; the most recent around A.D.100

The original languages of the Bible were Hebrew (Old Testament), Aramaic (a few scattered parts of the Old Testament), and Koine Greek (New Testament).
The word Bible is derived from a Greek word (biblos) referring to papyrus (in later Latin, biblia), and the word Testament from a Latin word (testari) meaning to witness.

At key points in early church history, church leaders met and tested the writings to determine which should be considered truly authoritative.
These books came to be called canonical, from the Greek word for a measuring stick (kanon); they later became what we today know as the Bible.

Another question trying to make a point.
Yes, I can answer this upfront.

The author is God, who is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The secretaries were 40 different people from 2000 years.

God told the secretaries through the Holy Spirit what to write.
Simple and uncomplicated.

The bible was written by different men of God. But the words were from God. God spoke to these men and they wrote down them; like the ten commandments. God written it on a stone when moses went to the mountain. But evey thing was told by paul and other prophets. Maybe if you try to read it, it could help you know yourself. it good to study other religions.

I believe the correct answer is:

Several books - no one knows.
Some books - Named after their authors, or followers of their authors
A few books - Claim to be inspired by God
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John - Written by followers a few generations after the authors...it is widely believed they all base their stories on John.

Assembled by: Ancient Jews (OT), Nician Council (NT). Nician council held a vote to decide which philosophy Chrisitanity was to uphold. One side thought Christ was a prophet, the other the son of God. Son of God won, and gospels that didn't emphasize this idea were thrown out (gospel of Mary M, Thomas, Phillip, Judas, etc).

So the quick answer to your question is...MEN

People did. Many many people's work was compiled into what is known as the bible. It has no single author, which is why it can be inconsistent and hard to follow at times.

It is a matter of faith as to whether these writings were divinely inspired.
