The man hole is round so that the cover cannot fall in. If it were square, the cover could be tilted sideways and fall in. Also, it is man 'h'ole, not 'w'hole

for two reasons (I forgot one of them)...
One: the cover for the man hole is round so that it is easier to move (a square would have to be picked up and carried by two workers...but a round one can be rolled by one man)
Two: (like I said, I forgot, but I think that it was something along these lines...) if the hole was square then if a worker needed to place a plank of wood over the hole as something to step on (if the cover was missing for some reason), then the plank of wood might fall through the hole because both of them have strait edges. but if the hole was round, then the wood plank could not fall through the hole (....or something like that)
was I right?

Frankly, a man hole is round because it is easier to dig a round hole than it is to dig a square hole or a triangular hole. Plus a round hole is more easily maintained and more functional in that it provides an easier working environment if it becomes necessary to enter the hole. Lets just say it is a roundabout way of life.

If they weren't round, there would be no kids round either. Even man wouldn't be round...just the animals would be round.
