So does it mean that christians pick and choose which teachings to follow?

Do you think that has anything to do with the fact that christians are becoming more and more hated worldwide?

Unfortunately, this Christian isn't that "Christ-like", I would probably lay you flat. I have a long way to go.

Additional: It means that like Buddhism, Christianity is a journey. We are all on a different part of the journey and NO, I think Christians are only "hated" by the small-minded. I try to forgive them for the hatred and pity their mind set. I often think that it's rather a self-hatred. They often seem to be obsessed with trying to get a rise out of Christians, perhaps to try to prove that Christians are no more "good or bad" than they themselves. I find it sad, but I'm sure it is an attempt to make themselves feel superior in some fashion.

We can't ALL be warm and cuddly like the Muslims, the Satanists, the Atheists and all the rest.

It would depend on the circumstances and who did the smacking. God doesn't intend for us to be battering rams or door mats. At the same time under some circumstances, you probably would turn the other cheek.

Now that clearly depends on where you smack them.

I think the hatred has more to do with (outside the US) how the world views our current administration. Regardless of what we believe at home, the western and Islamic world views us an intolerant and imperialistic.

If smacked, I would.

I'd turn the other guy's cheek all sorts of colors and an entirely different shape.

Most would yes. Most people are shocked at the first strike and do nothing.I will usually let you have one free one unless I know you are intent on more than just a slap. You do know the difference between being struck and being beaten don't you?

Nope..I would knock his brains out..and am a Christian

Turn the other cheek was meant to advice us that when you offend some one with your teaching, and they get mad and strike..THEN, and ONLY THEN, turn the other cheek.

Why would you smack anyone? Are you looking for trouble?

That's not the way to start out the new year, is it?
