What is going on inside there?

I am getting tired of this question. the reason many kingdom halls (not churches) have no windows is because it is cheaper to keep up. the doors are open. we have air inside. if you are so interested to know what is going on inside you are welcome to see. we are listening to a talk from Jehovah God and studying. instead of wondering about the windows, why don't you learn about Jehovah Witnesses. we give free bible studies. we are not brainwashed or a cult. we are in 235 lands. by the way, the kingdom hall that I go to has windows and many do. sometimes people are mean and threw stones into the windows because they know nothing about us. churches have such fancy windows and there is no need for them. who do you think pays for the fancy windows at the churches. www.watchtower.org. see how rude people are here. we are not nude or having porn. we don't pass a plate for money, there are boxes for money but if you don't want to give or don't have you don't have to give. churches are always passing a plate around for hundred of dollars we don't. we give as much or as little as we want

This all depends on the Kingdom hall you go into. Some do have windows, but for the ones that do not it's a matter of security. No windows and theres no glass to be broken out to hurt someone

Yah.. why is that..?

I peeked inside one once and saw lots of people and paintings on the ceiling.

Some non-old (20th century) catholic churches don't have windows either and they both look like un-churchlike auditoriums from the outside.

I was pressured into going to a Jehovah's witness Church many years ago. They passed the flippin' money begging tray thrice. Maybe they are trying to hide their unbridled greed.

JW's don't call their buildings churches they call them "Kingdom Halls." Why no windows? Probably to keep the buildings simple and inexpensive. JW's are really big on not having any sort of ceremony, ritual, or church-y, stuff in their worship. They don't even call themselves "Christians." Thus they don't want their buildings to look like churches in any way.
