I know, some say he's the Son of God, others say he's God. Here's a question for those of you who say he's God:
Here is God, the Creator of everything that exists, from the unknown wonders of the Cosmos, the Universe and every galaxy and star within it and all its physical laws, the miracle of life in all it's forms, the twinkle in a child's eye. We're also told the this God did miracles on Earth, things like parting the Red Sea, walking on water, and making blind people see.
So my question is this: Wouldn't you think that a God that could do all of this, create everything that exists and do a lot of miracles, wouldn't you think he could figure out some better way to come to Earth than to have himself be born by a virgin? I mean, wouldn't you think he'd just make himself appear here? I mean, how difficult would that be for a God who could create the entire Universe? Instead, he makes poor Mary endure a nine-month pregnancy and give birth in a manger?

You are completely right in your reasoning. But stupid believers will keep believing in ficition. And if there really was a God you and people like you are the only people to go heaven....This is because you use your mind... That is all to it

tych: Great question ! Jesus [God] decided this long in advance of even, creating the earth. God could have used Charles Darwin to be one of the "wise" men should He of decided to do so. God is employing "the better way" for executing His plan for the overall "saving" of mankind. God did NOT want it known that the Messiah was the very Jesus child born in a manger for people to just accept this on face value or He would have had Jesus come to the earth the frist time [at His human birth] the way He Jesus will Return the second time - where all eyes will then, see Him and be informed visually, of His appearence. Remember; Jesus had to experience EVERY human emotion and choice offered ( whether, good or bad), to fully come to understanding what it was / is like to be human. Jesus therefore, can judge people "righteously" and in mercy fully in the "light" of understanding the human experience. Christians are employed in Jesus's execution of His plan, currently, here, on the earth. Every human ever created will have his or her shot at salvation, in his or her own time and turn, as pre-ordained by God. Mary was called "blessed amongst all women" because she was the one selected by God to give birth to the very One, Who will SAVE all of us ( you included ) ! This is what the "Gospel" or Good News is about ! God is in the SAVING Business !!! Have a great 2007 !!!

To tell you the truth you Christians are so confusing you say that there is one god (Jesus Christ) then this mighty god Jesus came into earth via birth from a woman after that he became the son of god then god kills himself on a cross to purify men from their sins so if that is true then there is no god cuz he is dead god committed suicide but of course this is not true god did not die god was not born god does not have a son god is one and that is what we Muslims believe Jesus is one of the mighty messengers of god who's birth was a miracle god is not his father and Jesus did not die he was not crucified he is still alive up in the sky.

Well the significance to being born of a woman and die is so that he could fully experience human life. The problem with glorifying the birth of Christ in Nativity scenes and such is that it takes away the humanity of it...... I mean c'mon Jesus was born in a stinky barn - yet images depict all kinds of light and riches and warmth. The point is that sometimes we think God doesn't understand what it is truly like to be human - to be in a world of sin, distractions, pain, loss, suffering, etc...... Many people think God can be blamed for our suffering, but the point of Christ is that God knows what it is like to feel mortal, to feel the loss of a friend, to be betrayed, and ultimately to feel death. As to your last comment, Mary must have been a very strong woman since she stood there as they crucified Christ.... That takes a lot of strength.... But just like any mother would, Mary loved him because he was her son. And its not everyday your son is the Savior of mankind.
Again, Jesus had to be born, killed, etc so he fully knew what its like to be human.

The reason that God came to the earth via a virgin was so He would be fully human while at the same time being fully God. He came to give us a plan for Salvation. Back in the Garden, Adam sinned, and he passed that sin nature on to us. We are all sinners, and therefore we deserve to die and go to Hell. Christ was born a man, so that He could lead a perfect life, and pay our penalty for us on the Cross. If Jesus didn't come, we would all still be sinners, dying in our sins.

God prophesied of his manifestation in the Old Testament. He would not be God if He did not fulfill His prophecies and keep His promises.
Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, MIGHTY GOD, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

One of the thing's that Jesus teaches us is humbleness. By humbling himself he's identifying himself with us, mankind. That's why he often called himself the Son of Man. BTW good question and check out the gospel of John you'll know what I'am talking about.

I will not take the time to show all the errors (yes errors) spoken by the false prophet Muhammad, I limit myself to the Christian bible. My answer is strictly biblical.
It isn't about what you think, it is about what is in God's word.
There are two keys passages found in the Christian bible: John 8:58 and Matt 28:19 (Please get out your bible, yes bible not Qur'an).
Did Jesus in John 8:58 say he was God?
Is the trinity reference in Matt 28:19?
The rest of your detail is answered by the above two questions alone.

Hebrews 2:9- But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor, that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
