i am muscular and about 20% body fat. i started doing squats and other leg muscle exercises, but my legs only got bigger. i want to be slim, not muscular and fat. what exercises should i do? (other than swimming, i'm afraid of water)

also, if i ate a total of 1600 calories a day and exercised for about 20 minutes per day, when (how many weeks/months etc) will i reach my goal of 105 lbs?

If your of average height you need approximately 1700 a day just to maintain weight. Each pound out fat is approximately 3500 calories. About 90 days of this activity level and you would reach your goal. If all you want to do is lose weight (burn fat) then you should try 45 minutes of aerobic exercise at least 3 times a week. It takes 25-35 minutes of exercise to burn up the stored energy in your muscles before you body starts to covert fat into energy so it would be better to work out longer ie 45 minutes than 2 or 3 20 minutes workouts. This plus your 1600 calorie diet would shave about 30 days off of the original estimate of 90 days.

Hey,

In order to lose weight to 105 lbs. Never try squats or push ups.
And never go on a diet . That is dangerous. Below I created a simple exercises to do.

1.) In the summer , or when it is warm. Try running at least 2 laps around your block or just run for 2 minutes.

2.) Walking for 5 minutes always helps me. Each day walk at least 6 or 10 laps .

3.) Do you have a bike to ride. Try this. Try riding around your block. I'm sure this will work. Did you know, Scientists have believed that the more you use your legs . The more just you can be slim and it will lose that muscular fat.

If you are 18 years or over you can go the gym or go on the
Nutriystem . I heard that it's feel . So, why not gave it a shot.
Watch it on TV. And call if it's free. I hope that helps you. Good luck from RDNets - check out it online at www.nutrisystem.com

Try fruit and veggie diet for a couple of weeks, maybe some cranberry juice to flush out your system and start new. Then squats, will increase your muscle mass in your legs. If you want to lose the weight try walking a few miles. Walking is one of the best excercises you can do. Also try sit-ups, and 20 minutes is okay with combined excercises but you'll have to do that maybe 4 times a week and your results will take a while.

How's this for help--please don't be too concerned about your weight. It's hard to imagine anyone looking fat who only weighs 110 pounds, unless you are 4 feet tall or something. But, if you must lose weight, long durations of aerobic exercise is the way to do it. Instead of 20 min a day, try 40 min every other day.

The best way to loose weight fast is to fast. Walking and or running or biking burn calories fast and don't really make muscles bigger. Drop 100 calories per day until you reach your goal. Then gradually add 10 to 20 calories per day and exercise more to maintain. Good luck.

I would KILL to be 110 lbs. (Okay, well don't take that seriously, but really). Don't do excercises which will cause you to build muscle, because muscle weighs more than fat. Just eat less and walk for excercise. You look great at 110 - don't fall into this Hollywood thin stick crap.

How tall are you? How old? 105 may not be a healthy weight for you. If you are a woman, a healthy body fat level would be between 21 and 33 percent (if you are 20 years old). Too little body fat on a woman can lower your hormone level and case all kinds of health problems...including stopping your menses. Just like with abs, you wanna get nice abs? You cant just strengthen the muscles, you need to do a lot of cardio to get rid of the fat that is already there, other wise you get the reverce effect becasue you are just building up muscles under the fat. Okay, if that made sense to you, great. Short and sweet: you HAVE to do cardio as well (like, running). My advice: cardio!Good luck!
