What you have is called a "tic". You do it, but you probably don't want to, and are barely aware when you do it, right? It's not an involuntary twitch, but it's not totally voluntary either. Talk to your primary care physician about the problem. There are medications that can reduce tics. You might need a referral to a specialist.
Good luck with this. I understand the grief this type of thing can cause, and most of the answers here are ridiculous!

It could be random muscle spasm caused by stress, if u r stressed and in a general state of anxiety the body has too much adrenalin pumping and u can get twitches on the legs, fingers normally twitch in a sideways movement, above the eyes, anywhere, with me it was the the beginning of anxiety, i would see the doc but if it is stress avoid prozac and if u do need an ssri ask for 1 without side effects or maybe a betablocker (propranolol), in the meantime don't worry, it probably isn't Parkinsons disease cos twitching related to that is actually caused by the meds that help it after prolonged use i think.

I think a search on the web for twitches might be your best bet. Make sure it is a reputable site (university, medical) rather than just a random person's posts.

It is probably your nerves...you might have been under terrible strss as of late, or lately,...and the toll it can take on your body, is to deplete you of everything and affect you this way...otherwise, don't try to diagnose yourself.....get to a neurologist, and see what is going on...sometimes a vitamin b12 shot will do the trick, to be honest. Happy New year darling

It is very common for those with tourette's syndrome to have this problem, but it is very unlikely that this is what you have. Although their ticks are technically controllable, it is so difficult to fight the urge that you can pretty much say that they are uncontrollable. You may have bad nerves? Go to the doctor.

I would go and see your Doctor. They will proably run some tests, to see what's causing it.
Please ignore the first 2 answers. They are heartless, and only saying it, for the points.!!

Are you sitting on a small animal of some sort? This can lead to twitching.
