I was using a ear-bud to clean my ear and the cotton fizzled out of the stick and is inside my ear no matter how hard i tried to take it out. What should I do?

by all means do nothing to push it further in.
I would have someone dribble clean, warm water into my ear while I'm lying on my side, with the ear that has the cotton in it facing up.
The water should expand the cotton to where it is visible, and then your friend can pull it out with fingers or tweezers.
Afterwards, turn your head so that the water can run back out of the ear.
The safest way (and what a doctor would tell you) is go to a doctor and have it removed.

generally, i wouldn't suggest that you try to get it out yourself. ears are delicate and there's a reason that every box of cotton swabs warns you not to stick them in your ears. it's because they can break or damage your inner ear.

however....since you seem determined to do it yourself, here's a few ideas. just be careful. and let someone help you.

1. flush it out: lie down and run lukewarm water (using a waterbottle or something- don't poke any hoses or tubes in your ear. it'll hurt) into your ear. depending on the size of the stuff in your ear, it will either make its way out with the water, or absorb lots. have someone take a look every few minutes and try to get it with tweezers IF THEY CAN SEE IT. don't let them dig around. it'll hurt.

2. go for a run. movement might dislodge it enough to work its way down to a place where you can pull it out.

3. leave it alone. hypothetically, it shouldn't hurt you...but you never know. i know people who have had cotton stuck up their nose for weeks, and they turned out fine. it probably would work itself out eventually.

That's all I've got. Again, it's a good idea to let a doctor get it, but as it is flu season...it could take ages to get an appointment or even get through the walk-in.

Your choice.

DON'T PUT ANY TWEEZERS IN YOUR EAR!! I am a licensed EMT and I wouldn't do it to myself or anyone else. I have not been trained and neither have you on extracting foreign objects from ear canals. If you go to an immediate care clinic and the doc there punctures your eardrum trying to get that thing out, you can sue him. If you do it, it's like 90 days same as cash. In reality useless to you. Don't be a dummy!

maybe a drop of olive oil into your ear... let the cotton absorb it for a few minutes... tilt your head the other way, and see if it slides out. You're best off going to a doctor... they have instruments that take care of that kind of thing....

I would go to a walk in clinic to see a doctor. Your ear isn't something you should be poking around in. Easy to do serious damage to your hearing.
