I don't believe that there is a set age, some 10 year olds are very responsible and some 15 y.o. are not. You should try to leave the child alone for just a few minutes by practicing - just drive around the block to see if the child is comfortable, you will just have to follow your instincts from there. Make sure that the child has a cell phone number or can go to a nieghbor that is home and make sure that you have rules about answering the phone and the door while the child or children are home alone - whatever age they are.

It varies from state to state. Your local police or child welfare office could answer that question.
Most places it will be 12 or 13, but if the child of that age is not responsible, or if the younger sibs will not obey or are scared or are always fighting, then that could still be considered too young if a social worker were called. There is probably also an age under which the kids are considered to be in immediate danger, like about 8 or so.

Normally a 14 year old is the acceptable age, and not for overnight or more than 8 hours, reasonably. Judgement is the case here. But I have taken care of my siblings for much longer when I was 12. It just depends on the maturity level of the babysitter.

Age 12 to be left alone. I believe regular work hours, which would be 8. Now, to be left alone with younger siblings, I think you have to be much older.

There is no legal pre determined age. The decesion should be based upon common sense and the maturity level of the older sibling.

I would say about 12-13. But it's up to the parents. My aunt wouldn't let me babysit her son when i was 13 or 14. So I would say it depends on the parents for how old and how long.

Depending on the state but it's generally 18 years old, and that would be for as long as needed.

I believe it's 12, and for an evening.....not an overniter. But I also believe each parent knows their child/children, and knows better than a designated law. I know a 17 year old that I would NOT trust.
