There are lots of alternatives, but AAA is by far the best. I've used it for 12 years and although service calls were rare they never let me down. I pay $72/year for AAA+ which will tow your car up to 100 miles if necessary. THAT I have had to do once (60 miles) and without AAA that tow would have cost hundreds. You really can;t beat that kind of a deal. Many credit cards and travel organizations offer some kind of road service plan but I would avoid them since you have no idea what kind of quality they are. At least with AAA you have well established national network with a proven track record. It's really not that expensive either. I don't know why anyone would drive without it.

Terrible service . Broke down between Mayhill and Artesia New Mexico in freezing temperatures and waited 4 hours and nobody ever showed up. They said our directions were bad and they were not. Thank God for the Ford Dealership in Artesia as they had no problem finding us and were wonderful and managed to get us back on the road to Texas. When we complained to AAA they said a manager would call us back to discuss our incident and that did not happen either. Won't be renewing our service contract with them again. A total waste of money!

I have car insurance with Farmers, and they offer roadside service like AAA with much cheaper cost (like $5/ 6 monthsr or sth like that.....I don't have my policy with me LOL)

So call a Farmers agent and check it out. Last time I had a dead battery, they respond to my call in 10 min.

Good luck
