I need to find an appartment in the Bronx near the metronorth station either on Fordum or nere white Plains. I just got a job in Stamford and the comute from where I'm currently living is to far and expensive.

I think one of the safest and nicest neighborhoods in the Bronx that is very close to the Metro- North is Mosholu parkway. It is located right by the New York Botanical Gardens, which is what the Metro- North station is called. You should probably look on www.craigslist.com for apartments in the area but rent usually ranges from 600-900 a month. There are many parks in the area, including Williamsbridge Oval, Van Cortlandt, etc and the whole street, as it is a parkway, is lined with many trees. There are also many stores in the area, supermarkets, pizza and chinese restaurants, etc so it's a pretty nice place to live.

Get a broker or try craigslist.
I used to live off the Williamsbridge station on the metro-north. It's an alright area.

You MAY want to also consider the Wakefield Station (233rd Street) and live along Katonah Avenue. That area is pretty safe. The area also goes into Yonkers along McLean Avenue so you could easily catch the BX16 to get you to MN.
