Its not. I've been wondering why the Christians think it is. But they can never answer that question when I ask.

kaye, honestly think that through. Harry Potter talks about London, does that make everything in the Harry Potter books true? No? Then why would some of the locations and names make the bible true? Just because the bible says they're true? Sorry, not proof.

If the bible was not a collection of writings focusing around God, would it be easier to believe...

some of the writings are over 3500 years old, and all are at almost 2000 years old....

why is it people accept the dead sea scrolls, nag hammadi library, the writings of Josephus, hieroglyphics, the story of Gilgamesh, the Kama Sutra, other Hindi, and Buddhist writings as true and accurate with a greater degree than the bible...

you know if I told you the reason people didn't believe the bible was because it was written by Jews, then i would be labeled an anti-Semite but since the argument is surrounded by religious controversy well it is okay especially if they are christian

just so you know... there is no proof of God or Jesus or anything spiritual the bible claims... that is what the definition of faith is... the substance of things HOPED for... the evidence of things UNSEEN

Because the Bible is a written account of what happened in the world from Day 1 to the time of Adam and Eve, Moses, David and Goliath, Jesus, and beyond.

Some of the accounts are repeated in history books, since it is part of history and are true accounts. Non-believers refuse to accept that it is truth and like to argue that the miracles of the Bible were "made up" while submitting that the historical events from the Bible that are also in history books are just coincidence.

God is real, so is the Bible. Peace to you all in the new year!

To someone who dosent believe in the Bible you cant prove its true through the Bible they dont believe. Ask them what they believe, and be prepared for anything and politly and as lovingly as possible disprobe their theory, and at some point in the conversation take them through the law and ask them if thew were to stand before the God of the Bible (which it 100% true) where they would go, and ask by what means man kind got the knowledge of what is right and what is wrong.

It's really hard to find.. i spent like 10 minutes looking for this article but then i got to this site where they found a match to what i typed in .. but i would have to sign up and they'd charge me $7.95 monthly. It was newspaper archive site... now anyway...

Before the first space shuttle launch in 1969... they had a problem.. they realized in space something did not quite line up mathematically... 2 whole days were missing,.... which completely through them off.

So... they couldn't figure it out... then a Christian astronaut in Texas remembered the story of Joshua when he asked God to keep the sun up so that they could defeat their enemy.. and God did. Then another time when i forget who ( i think Hezekiah) asked God for a sign of his will be bringing the shadow back a little.

Now when NASA calculated the difference this would have made it added up to exactly 2 DAYS! so they recalculated including that difference.. and was then able to launch!

I Think that's universal truth and FACT if you ask me!
:)

It isn't.

And for others:
Phitchick, anyone who believes an urban legend like NASA confirming the Joshua story needs to develop a lot more critical thought. That isn't faith, that's just being gullible. (URL)

And for judy froelich, and your " We all know down deep in our hearts that God is real.."
Please do not rule on what I know. I know nothing of the kind. I studied the bible for years, before reluctantly concluding it was not what it claimed itself to be.
The evidence is there, if you look.

You might start with the "texts of terror", or why the ending of Mark's Gospel is uncertain.

There's no proof, of course - religion requires suspense of disbelief ("faith").

The problem is that many people don't just believe, they are convinced it's the objective truth. These are the dangerous ones. They believe that random facts are proof. Watch the other replies.

It seems that either one has a predisposition to be faithful to nonsense or they don't. It seems also that there is not much choice. I have no faith in these matters and I know that will not change except in the face of undeniable proof, like if God(s) came before us and let people take down evidence.

I see what you mean. It's rather amazing that a document is used as proof of something, when the document itself is being questioned.

the Bible is the Written Word of God... and it is Truth.
Whether we choose to believe or not is up to us. In order
to believe in the bible, you must first believe in God. We all know down deep in our hearts that God is real..but often we run from Him and use all sorts of excuses not to face Him.
