so, what if a little redhead girl traveled to s. korea by herself for a couple weeks? would some people stare in horror? or could she walk down a road without feeling like the village freak? :P

Hey! Why do you soo yourself as a freak when they see you as a unique-looking gal. They might be staring in admiration, eh?

Okay, you may get stared at, but it's not a "she's a freak" kind of stare. It's usually admiration and wonder, because, like you said, Koreans do not naturally have red hair, so it is a rare sight!

Redheads in Asia are often seen as VERY exotic and beautiful, because red hair is so vibrant and rare. Don't be so ashamed of being unique! You won't be the "village freak"! People will be interested in you, especially if you learn some Korean!

Maybe you'll find yourself a nice Korean man. lol.

;)

my husband lives in South Korea, teaching english. He has long red hair and they love it. yes, they stare, but it's just cause you look different. really, their aren't that many non-koreans there. so they will stare just because you are white, or because you have freckles, or because you are really tall. But they are all so nice. they won't stare in horror. If you ever get into a good conversation they might ask if you dye your hair, and will think that you have a perm if your hair is curly (especially the children, they won't believe you). In Seoul there will be a lot more diversity though, and you won't feel so awkward.
