Depends what kind of bad mood.

If you've stepped on his tail or something that made him mad at you, then give him some space and don't do anything to him for a while.

If he's meowing at you loudly and trying to lead you somewhere, them go follow him and give him what he wants. It's usually pretty obvious.

If he's acting unusually sleepy or drowsy, not wanting to eat or clean himself or anything of that sort, get him to a vet quick, as these could all be serious symptoms of some illness.

If his litter box is messy and his water and food dish are empty or dirty, you know what to do about that.

If he's bored, pay attention to her. Play with him, cuddle him, talk to him, whatever.

do what warren eckstein says. cats know when your talking about them. if your constantly in the "no" zone for punishments, always tell him, "GOOD BOY!" And explode with joy! dont do this only when he does something good, do it at random, like when you come home and u just so happen to notice him lying on the couch. you could be ripping apart kittys self image if you yell no @ him 24/7. he can start to get a negative outlook on life and act badly just to get your attention bacause you havent been giving him enough posotive attention. good luck!

When my cat gets like that, sometimes the best thing to do is to leave him alone. Other times, he is open to us petting him, scratching his chin etc. He has arthritis, so a light back rub will cheer him up as well.

Good luck - it is no fun when your pet is grumpy.

Cut a long piece of string and have a game of cat and mouse chase. Cats just love this stuff.

rub on your cats stomach amd chest gently with the tips of your fingers. then the space on the top of their head right above their eyes rub it gently with your fingers, pretend as though you're stratching the cat but softly. if you hear purring from the cat then you know the cat likes it. you can also try rocking the cat in your arms my cat seems to enjoy it.

If you have left him alone a lot lately he is mad at you. His mood will pass, let him come to you, don't suck up to him, believe me cats don't like it.
