Celebrating the death of any person? Especially when the death is induced by others?

I woke up with my tv on night before last to see the first video of Saddam's preparation to hang. Tears came to my eyes and I immediately had to channel it.

My tears came not only for him, in his last moments, but for all those who did love him, his family, his followers - right or wrong.

And. also, for all of those whose hearts were gladdened by his final demise.

What makes ppl so vindictive as to take pleasure in bringing about death?

It brings people pleasure to see the life of a man that murdered and tortured innocent children and women, followers and opposers and even a man who compromised the lives of his own children put out of his misery... His own family understood that he was a tyrant that inspired fear and depravity in all who loved or followed him... He was the best modern definition of Evil.

There is an ancient story about someone just like you told in the form of a scorpion and a fox...

Basically to make a long story short, in the end, when after the fox had helped the scorpion across the high water by giving it a ride on its back, the scorpion stung the fox, and with its dying breath it begged to ask "Why have you done this to someone who has helped you and has mercy on you, where otherwise you would have drowned?" The scorpion replied... "Because I am a scorpion, and it is in my nature to kill you." Kind or otherwise.

Does that answer your question?

We all die honey... Some SHOULD be sooner than later. He deserved it! Don't be such a bleeding heart liberal. I don't want to pay to keep his *** in jail forever and neither do the people whose families he raped and tortured... do you actually feel THAT bad for him? Come on now! Dry your eyes and get back on your meds!

Celebration at executions is nothing new. Every time someone is executed in the United States, people gather, one group to protest, the other to celebrate. The very fact that people take such pleasure in the death of another human being, regardless of what he has done, should set of some alarm bells regarding the wisdom of capital punishment. I don't agree with it, and I live in Canada, which does not have capital punishment.

Saddam tortured & killed, and destroyed many families for personal ambition only. To me, death gives him no time to ponder the cruelty he inflicted. I prefer to think that the rejoicing was for the conclusion of a trial for a man who had been above the law--aren't most of those rejoicing Iraqis who suffered from him? I'm curious--why no tears for the victims, who had no trial? Also--wasn't an article recently published where a woman barely escaped a death sentence from an adultery charge? The culture there differs from ours. You're still free to love him or worship him as a martyr. It's a free country (here). Many of us don't understand your compassion for one, the cause of death for so many.

Well, haven't you seen the "The Passion of the Christ". Talk about celebrating death, this was a number one hit. This death was also kind of paradoxal. People blamed others for his death, and will even hate those who supposedly killed him, yet they use his death as a type of saving grace. Saddam's death is similar in a wierd kind of way. I do hope we can someday get past our fascination with physical death.

Vengeance is a dish best served cold.

People whom wrong others on purpose deserve a equal or greater punishment in return. They do not deserve to live and make my life harder because they have no morals.

No sympathy for Saddam or anyone else who murders, rapes, and tortures people.

I agree with you totally! Death is a painful moment and to rejoice on someone's death is very cowardice act! We will all die one day. No matter what you did and how you lived your life, death is not something to joke over or to laugh over. The pangs of death are strong and it is not something to be glad about. We should pray for God (Allah)'s Mercy and guidance for our soul! I hope i answered you well!

Have you read about what a vile person Saddam was? It's called justice, and those people wanted much more than just a hanging.

well He needed to be executed, but i too am sad that it had to be. I do not celebrate the death of any criminal, even though it has to be done, it is a very sad thing. He was a poor demented man that was completely out of control and I feel sorry for him and his family.

I would hope that the majority did not take pleasure in this event. However, it was necessary for Iraqi people to do to have some closure on his reign of terror.
