He walks around funny and has been doing it for about a week now. He holds his head down and now he's even leting the front part of his back kind of slouch a little. He got out about a day before we noticed the issues and he came running back to the front door absolutely terrified. Any veterinarian or vet techs out there?

Edit:
I was a Vet Tech for two years and know what an absess is. I have felt all over him and everything is normal. He had no wounds, but he did have some bald spots on his face, but I figured that was just from stress because my boyfriend (his actual owner) had been out of town off and on for two weeks and so I assumed it was stress.

It's difficult to diagnose the sypmtons you described without a full examination and possible x-rays. You could be looking at a variety of conditions or trauma. Schedule an appointment with your vet as soon as possible.

Have him seen by a vet at once. Chances are, while he was out, he was bitten by another cat and has an abscess developing in his neck. The vet will need to clean the abscess and put the cat on antibiotics. Abscesses are common in cats that are outside, they usually develop after the cat has been bitten in a fight with another cat, and the actual puncture wound is often not seen by the owner until the abscess (a big pocket of pus and infection) develops inside the wound. The top of a puncture wound heals over first and that traps the bacteria inside the wound which is how an abscess starts. After the vet cleans it out, he can show you how to clean the wound so that it heals from the inside out, as well as give you antibiotics that the cat will need. An abscess left without treatment will finally burst and spew pus all over the place, and then because the infection is still there, it will form again until it gets big enough to burst again and again, or until the infection gets bad enough to become systemic and kill the cat. Cats usually also develop high fevers from the infection in an abscess. So get your cat to the vet as quick as you can!

It sounds like he may be in pain. I know it looks like his neck to you but from your description I suspect gut problems. He may have eaten something when he got out, or had some kind of trauma. The fact that it appears to be getting worse says to me that a vet check is in order.
