After all this time, the one thing that really keeps nagging me is WHY did he break up with me and then spend MONTHS trying to get back in touch with me and convince me to see him -- only to decide he was "not into it"? Why didn't he leave me alone after he broke my heart the first time? Is he just malicious or is he dumb?

He's malicious.

Forget, "Let's be friends." My rule is, after a break up, you don't talk for a year. And it really works.

The problem isn't that he, "Doesn't know what he wants," (as he no doubt told you), it's that he *wants everything*. He wants you, and the girls down at the bar, and maybe even his football buddies -- who knows? Point is, he's trying to worm his way back into your life long enough to make you miserable, then takes off as soon as he gets your hopes up.

Anyone that desperate to get under your skin obviously doesn't care about you.

It's not a question of intelligence; he was smart enough to talk you into it. This guy's just bad news.

Again, my advice is: Cut off all contact until you're emotionally healed enough to deal with this jerk. I guarantee that long before the year is up, you'll meet some nice guy who won't screw you over.

Best Wishes,
H.W.

He probably met someone else, thought she was the one but realized she was not, and you were available so he thought he would go back to familiar territory. Once with you again the feelings that made him leave in the first place came back, he is just indecisive.

That's a tough one, I would have to know more about the guy to tell you for sure. My ex... I came to the conclusion he was just dumb. He would tell me exactly what I wanted to hear so I would give him another chance. Then poof he would do exactly what he was doing before. He really isn't an evil person, just stupid.

It's not malicious, he just doesn't know what he wants. Don't blame him, but don't go back to him again either.

Not enough info to say, sorry. We don't know the guy. Could be either or neither. Try to put it behind you and move on regardless...it's the past.

It doesn't matter if he's malicious or dumb... What matters is that you deserve better.
